The Bedtime Tag – Let’s Get Personal!

Have you been wondering how I sleep? Nope, I didn’t think so. But, I’ve been tagged in The Bedtime Tag by the lovely https://everycloudmummy.com, so I’m about to give you an insight into my weird and messed up, bedtime routine.

  1. Describe your usual bedtime routine.

I love to have a bath before I climb into bed. You really can’t beat that whole clean body/clean sheets thing can you?  Once in bed I’ll usually catch up with my favourite vloggers and visit Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I usually then have a game on something (currently Mass Effect, totally obsessed). When I’m really ready to sleep I’ll put in my headphones and listen to something until I drift off.

  1. What are your favourite pyjamas?

I don’t like sleeping in pyjamas, I like being naked in bed. It’s healthier for the body apparently, but I sleep naked because it feels nicer than having clothes on. I do have pyjamas to wear in the evening and mornings and I guess my favourite ones are a pair of leggings with my Boux Avenue lounge jumper – it’s so soft and warm and cuddly. I also have a few Kill Star tunics that I wear in bed as they’re a bit too big for me.

  1. What is your current bedtime reading?

I’m not reading anything at the moment but I’m listening to a lot. I am a member of Amazon’s Audible and I adore it. My current book is The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher.

  1. What would I find on your bedside table?

A mess! Right now there’s a salt lamp, my phone and a drink. I have my Kindle Fire HDX, Alexa, cleansing water and a crystal. Way too many electronics I guess. On the floor you’ll find my battery pack, an Xbox One and PS4 Controller and several plugs and cables.

  1. What scent makes you sleepy?

Lavender. I hate the smell of Lavender but it does work well if you’re finding it hard to relax and drift off. I don’t use it very often these days.

  1. What is your usual bedtime and wakeup time?

Okay, before I divulge this information I would like you to know that I am fully aware of how screwed up this is. I’m also a natural night owl and I do my best work in the afternoon/evenings so I tend not to work in the morning unless I have certain plans. I go to sleep usually between 1 and 2 am (unless I’m sucked into a game like I am at the moment, then it’s often even later). I wake up at 7 am to get my daughter up and off to school. Then I usually go back to bed about 8,30 until about 11 am. If I have to go out and meet clients or have any plans I aim to go to bed at midnight.

  1. What are your top three bedtime products?

  • Moisturiser is a must. My favourite moisturiser of all time is Celestial by Lush. At the moment I have Garnier Moisture Bomb, which is pretty good too and a bit cheaper.
  • Kindle Fire HDX – I have to listen to something to fall asleep thanks to my tinnitus. I listen to my audiobooks on the Kindle and it’s also good for watching YouTube videos. To be honest, the Kindle could go if Alexa had a headphone jack.
  • Hot water bottle – I would have said electric blanket but ours broke this winter. I love a bit of extra heat as I find it comforting and I love warmth!
  1. What is your most common sleeping position?

I lie on my left-hand side or on my front, facing the left-hand side. I have my right leg kinked up at an angle and my left leg straight out. My cat usually sleeps with me so one of my arms is around him and the other is down by my side or under my pillow.  When I have the bed to myself I tend to do a face down starfish.

  1. Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?

A drink, a hot water bottle when it’s cold and a gadget or two.

  1. What is your worst bedtime habit?

Watching YouTube videos or playing games and simply going to bed late. But, after fighting my natural body clock for so long I’ve decided to embrace it. I’m lucky that I’m able to adjust my working hours to accommodate my body clock. It’s also hard to go to bed early as my boyfriend comes in from work at about 11.45pm, so if I do fall asleep before he gets home I’m always woken up by the dogs barking and his movements.

That’s my bedtime, isn’t it a disorganised mess? I’m sure yours is a lot smoother and efficient than mine. I am tagging a few people too, as that’s the whole idea of a tag… Over to you guys:
