Bethesda E3 – Skyrim Special Edition
I tried to stay up to watch the Bethesda showcase at E3 but by 2am I couldn’t keep my eyes open. So I crashed and woke up to all the news this morning. It’s not quite the same but it will do and despite no news on the next Elder Scrolls ( I wasn’t expecting it in all honesty) I am still pretty excited about what’s to come. Skyrim Special Edition is a welcome release as far as I’m concerned. It’s one of my favourite games, I gave hours and hours of my time to this game (about 200 if my memory serves me right) and it was time well spent. I can’t wait to immerse myself again when the remastered version hits the PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 28, 2016. Not long to wait, yippee!
Skyrim Special Edition will include the game and some add-ons and it’s going to look better than ever. There are god rays, screen-space reflections, dynamic depth of field and so on, which just mean that the game is going to look even more beautiful than it did when I played it on the Xbox360. One of the most exciting new features for me is the addition of PC mods to consoles, this I am really excited about as I’ve NEVER experienced any of the mods for myself. The mods will be found in the main menu but you can also check through the mods on Bethesda.net. It will being whole new experiences to the story that I love so much.
They’re also adding new quests, armour, weapons, characters, environments; it’s going to be a beautiful thing. If you play Skyrim on the PC (I never have sadly) and have all of the add-ons on Steam you’re going to get a free upgrade to the Special Edition when it’s released, lucky sods.
I am definitely excited about this news. No, it’s not a whole new game but the way I see it, it’s like going back to read a great book. I adore Bethesda and I know that the new Elder Scrolls will come one day, when it’s ready and not before. Give them time and they’ll create a masterpiece.
