Black Desert Open Beta Now on Xbox One

If you watch my streams, you’ll know that my current gaming obsession is Black Desert Online. Currently, BDO is only available on PC, and it certainly shines as a decent looking, fun to play MMORPG. However, console gamers with BDO envy you can now download the open beta of Black Desert on your Xbox One. Available until November 12, you have the chance to dive into this interesting world and see what the game has to offer.

Play How You Want

One of the things I love about a good RPG is having the ability to play the game your way. For example, right now in game, I’m going through the main quests with the Black Spirit, playing as a Dark Knight. I’m almost at the end of the current ‘main quests’ after spending about 100 hours in-game. A lot of that time has also been spent simply exploring the world and my character and you can definitely get through what is considered to be the ‘tutorial’ up to level 56 a lot quicker than I have. However, there’s so much more to do than questing, from crafting, gathering, PVP (after level 50), cooking, fishing, role-playing with others, grinding monsters, fighting bosses, setting up a home, hiring workers and becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Character Customisation at the Top Level

If you enjoy creating characters you will adore the customisation tools in Black Desert. I was astounded at the tools you’re given to make your character look exactly how you want them to look. It makes all other customisation tools look pathetic, including Fallout 4 and don’t even get me started on Sims 4. You could spend the entire open Beta playing with character creation, but I recommend that you delve into the game too. I’ve not tried it on the Xbox One yet, but it’s supposedly just as impressive.

You will have 6 main characters to choose from. Each of the characters has a unique playstyle, look, weapons and armour. You’ll be choosing from a ranger, berserker, sorceress, witch, wizard and warrior. Take a few moments to pick the one that you are drawn towards. You can always choose differently if you go on to buy the game on release.

Open Beta Cap

You’ll be free to play the game up until you reach level 40. I think this is a generous beta, giving you the chance to really delve into levelling up if you wish. By the end of it, you’ll know if this is the game for you.
