If you follow my blog you’ll be aware that I celebrated my birthday on Sunday. Earlier in the year I decided that I would make an effort and go out to celebrate. Most people wouldn’t think twice about dressing up and heading out on the town, but for me it’s a big deal. Although I am making good progress in my ambition to overcome my anxiety and social phobia there is still a long way to go. So when Sunday came I packed a bag full of Rescue Remedy spray, calms, my crystal (still not sure what it’s called) and a tissue soaked in Lavender and headed out.
The Irresistible Sixties Vibe
The town I live in is full of hippy types and musicians. On Sunday we had a mini festival called Mappfest taking place on the local common so that’s where I headed with my boyfriend and couple of friends who came down from Birmingham to visit. The vibe was relaxed, bands were playing, stalls were over flowing with tie die, scarves and cowboy hats and that’s where we spent the day. Walking onto the common made me feel like I was in the sixties, a time I always wish I had been around to experience. Peace, love and unity.
It was fantastic day. I coped well, thanks to the constant sniffing of lavender and perhaps the couple of glasses of Vodka helped too. I even went to the best pub, The Nags Head, a couple of times. It must be about five years since the last time I went to the pub in the evening.
With such a good day under my belt here’s my grateful Friday list:
- My town is amazing. Despite having hard rock bands playing until 10pm on the local common there were no complaints. Days like Sunday need to be treasured and held more often!
- Seriously, I wish I had tried lavender oil years ago. The moment I began to get tense I gave my tissue a sniff and I was able to keep my cool despite being out in a busy field and pub for about 14 hours! Lavender is amazing.
- I have been spoilt by family and friends this week, thanks to everyone.
- I am over the moon to have made it this far in life, I am hoping for many more years and I’m going to treasure the time I have by trying to overcome my anxiety completely.
Friday is a great day to reflect and think about the good things that have happened in the past few days, is there anything you’re grateful for this week?
