Pokémon Sun and Moon Ship Over 10 Million – UK Still Waiting

Pokémon Sun and Moon

Pokémon Sun and Moon Breaking Records

I received a press release today about how Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have broken Nintendo’s 3DS global record. They’ve shipped over 10 million units and fans are lapping up the latest full title since 2013’s Pokémon X and Y. That’s great and all but while it seems everyone else is playing; we in the UK have to wait a few more days for the UK release on November 23rd.  It’s agony! What makes it worse is that G has pre-ordered Pokémon Moon for me and I have to wait until Christmas to play it. Nightmare! I am trying to stay cool but seriously I just want to dive right in.

Celebrating 20 Years of Pokémon

The Pokémon Company is coming to the end of the 20th celebration. We’ve had lots of amazing trading card products released this month (we’ve spent a fortune on them) and of course Pokémon Go has been a success. While everyone says it’s dead and that people no longer play, that’s not totally true. What is true is that the number of players and the amount of revenue earned has decreased significantly. However, in mid-September it was still racking in a whopping $2 million a day – down from $16 million per day. The most current daily revenue estimates stand at $413,225. Yes, it’s a drop, but that’s still a reasonable amount of money and there is still people playing like us. Once the second generation makes their arrival and the training and battles released those numbers will increase once more.   Plus there’s the hype generated by Pokémon Go that has no doubt increased the amount of pre-orders for Sun and Moon and the trading cards.

It’s not long now until the Pokémon European International Championships. They kick off in London on December 9th ending on the 11th. The most talented Pokémon players from around the world will gather at the event and battle in the first official Pokémon Sun and Moon event. Players are competing for the combined prize pool of $250,000.

Pokemon Sun and Moon Starter

Now all I have to do is wait patiently for my copy of Pokémon Moon. I’m spending this time trying to decide which started to choose. I’m currently tied between Litten and Rowlet. I love Litten but his evolution is disappointing and reminds me of the Thundercats. Rowlet is currently in the lead, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to resist Litten when the time actually comes. Who will you pick as your starter? Come tell me on Twitter!
