The End of 2016 – Personal Goals
Time goes so much faster these days. It feels like a few weeks ago that we welcomed in the New Year. Yet here we are, on the cusp of 2017. Time is weird.
All in all, it’s been a good year. Work has been consistent. We still live in our lovely house that we moved to almost 2 years ago and my daughter is doing well and growing into a lovely young lady. The last few months of 2016 have also been a challenge, with illnesses and money woes. BUT, it could have been worse and I’m hoping the negative side of things will be left behind as we cross over into 2017.
Last year I wrote about my blogging goals for 2016. I’m glad to say I basically did what I wanted to do. My blog moved away from being all about sponsored posts and product reviews and more about what I was truly interested in. I don’t have many blogging goals this year, I plan on keep moving in the same direction and continue working on YouTube and Twitch. However, for once I do have a few personal goals that I thought I would share with you here.
- I have to sort out my finances. We struggle a lot, in fact, we’re pretty much drowning right now. I really want to get on top of things and begin making a dent in our debts and have enough money to get by. Getting out of debt will take longer than a year, but I need to gain back control and get things moving in the right direction. Although I do work full time, I need to work more.
- Health is something that I am aware of as I approach 40. I do want to be in really good shape by the time I reach my next age. The first step is to continue to move more and do more exercise. Thankfully, we had a really active summer (thanks to Pokemon Go!) and that has to continue. I’m going to try a few other fitness type activities too – possibly starting with aerial hoop! I won’t be able to afford aerial hoop on a regular basis yet, but I want to give it a go.
- Stop smoking. I have written about smoking in the past and I tried to quit with a vape. I don’t like vaping though and it’s not for me. I still smoke and I do want to quit. I am trying patches this time round. Smoking is awful as although I hate knowing what it does I do enjoy it. It’s sick! I need to break the habit.
So those are my main goals, with finances taking the priority. I need to get things sorted out now, once and for all. I must earn enough to live, I must get out of debt and then I have to think about future finances. Then I need to take better care of myself and hopefully give myself a decent chance of living for a bit longer than perhaps I should.
Let’s make 2017 a year of success. It’s going to be a struggle and perhaps not much fun, but the end goal is worth the effort.
