Ahava – Dead Sea Mineral Goodness
I always get a little nervous when I’m asked to try out new beauty products. I worry about what’s inside them and what chemicals I might be putting on my skin. I worry whether they are tested on animals and I get concerned about how my skin is going to react. I have hideously dry skin on my face – nowhere else, which is strange – but my face will begin to get flaky very quickly. As a result I don’t easily accept offers of trials or reviews. Up until the past two weeks I’ve been really pleased with the moisturiser I’ve been using, no flakes, no patches, just super soft skin. So when Ahava approached me offering me the chance to test out some of their goods that are now available to buy from the official Ahava eBay store I admit to being hesitant. Should I have been worried?
Ahava are now on eBay, which is great if you love to shop there. It’s good to know you can buy genuine products with ease, knowing they aren’t dodgy fakes that are full with horrible ingredients. The store is full of a variety of treats for the skin; I opted for a set of three products (not currently available as a gift set but all available individually on the store):
Time to Smooth Age Control Even Tone Moisturiser (Currently £28.99 for 50ml)
Time to Smooth Age Control Brightening and Renewal Serum (Currently £42.99 for 30ml)
Time to Smooth Age Perfecting Hand Cream (Currently £12.49 for 75ml)
Let’s Start with the Moisturiser as that’s the one I was most nervous about. When I first applied it to the skin I did notice it left a sheen to the skin, it took a bit of time to absorb but it felt good. It’s not the kind of moisturiser you can quickly put on your face and dash out the door, you do need to give it ten minutes just to settle. I also got a couple of spots a couple of days after I started using it, but I have put that down to the fact that I had a few drinks (okay, one too many vodkas) at the weekend as I’ve not had a breakout since.
As I said, I have dry skin and it will quickly let me know if a moisturiser isn’t going to work for me. Actually, my boyfriend lets me know by picking a bit of dead skin off my nose and so far that hasn’t happened. What I have noticed is my skin does appear to be a lot more radiant, and I am not just saying that. It looks healthier, less sallow and seriously not as dull as it was before. Obviously I feel this moisturiser is helping my skin and I love the fact that it is broad spectrum SPF20 too, great stuff! As I am enjoying the last couple of years of my thirties I am becoming more aware of the aging process, even if so far I am not doing too badly so far. Knowing this moisturiser is formulated to slow down the production of dark sports and smooth out wrinkles while protecting the skin from sun damage does put a big smile on my face.
All you need to do is put it on a few minutes earlier than you would and give it ten minutes or so to sink in before you head out the door or put on your make up and you’re set for the day.
My night time routine now includes the Brightening and Renewal Serum that needs to be put on before you moisturise. This has a gorgeous silky feel and certainly does give the impression of being a luxury product. Two squirts of the pump is all you need to cover the entire face and neck and I find it absorbs quicker than the moisturiser, leaving the skin soft and velvety. This serum is also designed to brighten the skin, fade dark spots and promote skin cell renewal while you sleep.
As I’ve been using both the moisturiser (twice a day) and the serum (nightly) for a fortnight it is hard for me to say which one is working at brightening my skin the most or whether it’s a combination of the two working together, I have no idea. All I do know is that the claims these products make do seem to be true, hurrah!
The hand cream comes with all guns blazing. It has a broad spectrum SPF15, dark spot correction and has an anti-aging complex that helps to reduce rough skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Now I am only 38 and I am happy to say my hands are in pretty good condition, although there do appear to be more fine lines appearing I don’t have any dark spots or anything. The cream has a luxurious texture, it melts into my hands very quickly and it doesn’t leave me with a greasy or tacky feeling – great stuff! My hands do appear to have a good even tone after using it and they certainly feel softer – great for after a few hours of house work or when coming in from walking the dog.
The Really Good Stuff
I don’t like putting any old rubbish on my skin so it’s fantastic to know that the Ahava products I tried (and the others in the product line) are:
- Paraben free
- SLS/SLES free
- Allergy Tested
- Free from animal testing
- Free from petroleum
- Free from GMOs
- Don’t contain any harsh synthetic ingredients
What they do contain is raw materials such as Dead Sea salt, dead sea mud and dead sea water and all the goodness contained within.
Two weeks into my trial and I am happy with the results of all three products that I have tried. I could now go back to my previous routine but I’m not going to as I am genuinely pleased with the results I’ve seen so far. I recommend the Ahava store on eBay, the delivery was very quick and the products are certainly worth the money. You’ll also find some excellent money off deals including up to 50% off and £5 off when you spend £100 (subject to change). I was also sent a couple of samples with my order too (Dead Sea Osmoter Concentrate and the Essential Day Moisturiser) but I haven’t tried them as yet.
I have happy skin and that’s the main thing.
I was sent the products to review but my opinions and experiences are honest and genuine.
