Everdine is another food delivery service but this one wins extra points for me as there’s no cooking involved. You pick your meals, they deliver it, you freeze it and pop it into the microwave when you’re hungry. Life made simple. I can’t tell you how much I adore this idea, but sometimes the reality is a disappointment. Luckily, I was given the chance to try Everdine out for myself thanks to Tornado. They also have an offer for you, giving you £25 off your first order. All you have to do is click this link: https://www.everdine.co.uk/your-curated-meal-plan-is-here/tornado.
Should you order from Everdine? Here are my thoughts.
Ordering From Everdine
The website looks smart and it runs well. It’s fast and easy to navigate. The food has been photographed well and there are enough details about the recipes and the ingredients. There’s information about the clean meals, the sustainably sourced meat and fish and their high standards of quality.
They have two chefs Matt and Viresh have been trained in Michelin-starred restaurants. They use their skills to create wholesome recipes. And there is a great choice. The recipes do change so you don’t have to eat the same things week in and week out. There’s also a vegetarian menu to choose from, no vegan menu as yet. Both classic and vegetarian plans are either 8 meals or 12 meals, with free shipping.
There’s an excellent choice and most of the meals can be cooked in the microwave in less than 10 minutes (depending on your voltage). You select the recipes you want and take them to checkout.
I made a bit of a mistake when I placed my order. I had to reach out to their customer services as a result. Sure, this was a pain but it gave me a chance to see how they deal with their customers. I used the contact form via the website as it was out of office hours. They responded by calling up my mobile phone less than 24 hours later. Now, I was in a meeting so I missed the call, but I don’t answer the phone to numbers I don’t recognise so I wouldn’t have picked up the call anyway. So, a few hours later I contacted Everdine via Facebook. They replied and informed me of the call (which was great as I got to find out who the missed call was) and to call back. I did so and my problem was resolved. I give them a 9 out of 10 for their customer services. They only lost one point as I would have appreciated an email telling me that a call was incoming.
I was told the food would be delivered before 12 noon and that’s exactly what happened. The food comes in a cardboard box with pure sheep’s wool insulation and several ice packs. The bottom of the box was a bit soggy and I had to be careful picking it up. A few of the ice packs were pretty defrosted, but the food itself was still frozen. I was very glad that I was in to pop it into the freezer straight away. If you were out at work and not home until 7pm I’m not sure how frozen it would still be, at least on hot sunny days. For me personally, I have no complaints here.
At the end of the day, the food is the most important thing. If it tastes gross it’s a waste. Thankfully, the meals were all very impressive. They are so easy to prepare, they look great and exciting and you can rest assured that you’re eating great quality ingredients. The portion is generous, with plenty of vegetables on the plate to nourish you. All three of us tried a variety of meals and we even served on up to a guest. Each of us were impressed.
Everdine is a fantastic idea and the service and food didn’t disappoint. I think it’s perfect if you’re a single person or a couple, working all week and wanting to eat well but not spend time in the kitchen. It offers an excellent level of convenience that is well matched to people who care about the food they eat. I don’t think it’s really suitable for families or anyone who is hoping for cheap food.
Would I use Everdine again? Yes, absolutely. I do care about the food that goes into my body, I want to feel energised and nourished. I also want to avoid slaving over a stove. Time is precious and if I can save time and feel good about the food I eat, Everdine is ideal.
