The first announcement from the Xbox conference at E3 is the official name for Project Scorpio. This most powerful console ever shall be hereby known as Xbox One X. Ta-dah! Not that special I guess, but it’s a name. It does sound better than Scorpio but it’s a bit long for my liking. Anyway, let’s get back to the news.
The Xbox One X will have an 8 core CPU, a 6 teraflop (hahaha, teraflop) GPU plus 12GB of GDDR5 Ram. It’s going to render 4K resolution (so we’re going to be skint as we’ll be needed a 4k monitor). It’s not all doom and gloom if we can’t afford one though as it will also perform supersampling on 1080p. Not that G will be happy with that! What I am super excited about is the small compact size of the console – this is welcomed news. I HATE the size of the Xbox One, it’s bloody massive and a total inconvenience. In the picture shown at E3 it looked like it was slightly bigger than the controller. That’s awesome!
Get saving as there’s not long to wait. Xbox One X is due for release on November 7, 2017! HOLY COW! I mean, that’s not long at all. As yet, we’re waiting to hear about the price but the PS4 Pro sells around £350. I do think it will cost more than that.
Now I’m not going to lie, I actually hate that there is already a new console coming out. I know it’s going to be better, but as someone who doesn’t have a large amount of money coming in, the cost of all these consoles is a bit of a killer. I can only imagine how parents feel. Before you start thinking that we can just wait or not have one, I do hear you. But, gaming is a form of income for us, so there’s that to consider. It’s not just a hobby.
I’m watching the conference as I type. Assassin’s Creed Origins has me excited 😀
